On 27 June 2026, the Catholic Church in Botswana gathered in Francistown for the Episcopal Ordination of Monsignor Lawrence Ofentse Pheto, who was ordained as the new Bishop of the Diocese of Francistown.
The historic celebration brought together bishops, priests, religious, parishioners, family, friends and members of the wider community to witness and celebrate this important milestone in his vocation and ministry.
The occasion was marked by prayer, thanksgiving and joy as Bishop Pheto formally began his episcopal ministry, taking on the responsibility of shepherding the faithful of the Diocese of Francistown.
His ordination marked a significant new chapter in his years of dedicated service to the Catholic Church and the people of Botswana.
